CHORUS

Our members have been practicing music for our Anniversary Dinner, the NYS Saengerfest and our Club Concert. The NYS Saengerfest will take place the weekend of May 31st at the German/American Club in Albany, NY. This event is being sponsored by the Germania Singers of Poughkeepsie. Our Club Concert is Sunday June 8th at 2:00 p.m. Several of our chorus members have volunteered their time for over 25 years and three of our singers for over 50 years. This is true dedication and the reason our Club was founded 160 years ago. Who would have thought this possible? We are thankful for the direction of Mark Radlowski and our accompanist Margaret Fusco for their continued support of German/American singing. Please invite your family and friends to our Sunday Spring Concert on June 8th at 2 p.m.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR EVENTS

1) To all who supported our Sauerbraten Dinner and the 20 volunteers contributing to the success. Special thanks to our chefs Cindy & Bill Yount for this two-week undertaking! 2) Rose & John Hosp did a great job selling all the pies & cakes at our Good Friday Pie sale. And, as we put this newsletter together, plans are made for a successful 160th Anniversary Dinner on May 3rd. It is our hope your reservations are in, and you enjoy the event.

BAVARIAN FESTIVAL - July 18-19-20

We previously announced that the name of our festival would be changed to the “German” Festival. However, it was brought to our attention from some of our long-time members, that our constitution indicates that we must have a "Bavarian" Festival each year. So, we will keep the name of our festival as the Bavarian Festival. THANK YOU to those members that brought this to our attention.

Please keep in mind our Festival will run Friday, July 18th & Saturday, July 19th from 5:30 - 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 20th from noon - 4 p.m. Mark your calendar now as we could use your help setting up the week before, manning the booths during the festival, and take down the week following. Volunteering is the heart of our success, and it will make you feel good while meeting new friends.

BAVARIAN FESTIVAL BASKET RAFFLE

Happy Spring! 2025 will be our 12th annual Basket Raffle at our festival! We will be starting to collect items at the Maennerchor in a bin that soon will be in the bar area. We will be accepting donated "completed " baskets (made by you or someone you know), items that you have and will not be using, maybe you want to donate items, and we can create the basket for you (we have baskets). I will be going through things that have been donated and letting all know of items we could use to complete baskets. We can use all that is donated, gift cards, empty baskets (med to large mostly) etc. At this time, I am looking for Buffalo Bills items, I have 2 Jack Daniel's Whiskey glasses to start the basket and would love donations to complete these!

Please contact me, texting is the best, but you can leave a voice mail (315) 725-2675. Mary Lou Manchester, Chairperson.

EDELWEISS SCHUHPLATTLERS by Gracie Schell

On April 2nd, we resumed our regular Wednesday Rehearsals. The very next day, April 3rd, found us returning to the Albany Street Elementary School's annual International Night, performing four dances. Once again, we included the students on one of our dances, which they so enjoyed. We will be participating in another one on June 4th, at Conkling Elementary School.

Our dancers are a busy group in May, with weekly rehearsals & four back-to-back performances. On May 15th we are at The Pines Nursing Home's "Sound of Music" day doing an hour show: May 16th @ 7p.m., we are at the Camden Methodist Church as participants in the annual talent showcase for the "NYS Old Time Fiddlers" Fundraiser; May 17th & 18th we return to the annual "Mayfaire on the Green" Renn Fest, performing a half hour show each day. (I believe we are the only German Dance Group that performs at a Renn Fest!!) After these shows, we'll start rehearsing even more dances, preparing for summer & our Bavarian Festival. Come & see us at one of our May Shows!! Check out our Facebook Page too! (Note: The Saranac Brewery Maifest that we were to dance at, was postponed to 2026 instead. We will be dancing at their 2025 Oktoberfest on Sept 19th, 20th & Okt 3rd.)
